NEW YORK, 28 September 2026 — PixAI has released Tsubaki.3, an anime model that draws a picture, lays out a manga page, and turns a still into a short video. With the model, the company published the technical report on how it was trained, and opened a tagging tool called Tagger 1.0. PixAI is a site for anime-style pictures. It opened in October 2022 and now has more than 16 million accounts.
Tsubaki.3 was built from scratch, not tuned from a public model. One model covers the work. A written description becomes a picture. One part of a picture can change while the rest stays put. A reference picture can become a new picture. From a single reference, a creator can get an expression sheet, another angle, a new outfit, or another age, and the face and the build stay the same. The model moves from line art to gray, to flat color, to a finished picture. It turns a picture into a manga page, with panels, speech balloons, and words in Japanese, Chinese, English, or Korean. A still becomes a short video, with the hair, the face, and the camera moving. Creators stay on the same model when the job changes.
The report sets out the training. It started with about 500 million pairs of a picture and a caption, and was cut to about 50 million. The cut drops copies, drops poor pictures, and keeps common ideas from crowding out rare styles. The filter runs on SigLip-Anime, a version of SigLIP tuned on anime pictures. The report names a failure it calls style collapse. Once the model is pushed to draw hands, bodies, several people, and words correctly, the pictures slide toward one plain, average look. The fix is two steps. First, about 7,000 pictures chosen by people. The pictures looked better, and the hands looked worse. Then a second pass fixes the hands, the bodies, and the words, and only after that brings the look back.
Tagger 1.0 is out with the model. It labels an anime picture with 30,877 tags: characters, series, styles, and visual details. It is built on SAM 3, and it is 10.4 points more accurate on character tags than the previous tagger, on a measure called micro-F1. Research use is free on Hugging Face. A companion called Prompt Helper turns a short, casual line, often written in Japanese or Korean, into the long description the model expects, and leaves anything the user stated outright untouched.
“Showing what is inside a model, in a form other people can check, is how these tools earn trust,” a PixAI spokesperson said.

PixAI, a site for anime-style pictures with more than 16 million accounts, has released Tsubaki.3. The model went out on 16 September 2026. On 28 September the company published the technical report and opened Tagger 1.0. Tsubaki.3 was built from scratch. One model draws from a written description, lays out a manga page, and turns a still of the same character into a short video.
Training began with about 500 million picture-and-caption pairs and was cut to about 50 million, so rare styles would not be crowded out. The report names a failure called style collapse: after the model learns to draw hands, bodies, and words correctly, pictures slide toward one plain look. The fix is two steps. About 7,000 pictures chosen by people, then a second pass that brings the look back. Tagger 1.0 labels a picture with 30,877 tags and is 10.4 points more accurate on character tags than the previous tagger. Research use is free on Hugging Face.
